FAQ

Q. What is boudoir photography?

A. While boudoir photography has many definitions, to me, it is a creative and expressive form of photography that captures the subject's intimate emotions and mood by focusing on their free spirit, flirtation, shyness, joy, sensuality, or playfulness. It is a peek into their innermost self without revealing too much, physically or emotionally.

Q. How do I book my shoot?

A. All you have to do is pick up the phone and give me a call! There are a few reasons why this is so important. One, you can never be too careful these days. Talking on the phone is the best way for both of us to be assured that we are both real. Plus, it's a great step toward making you comfortable with your session! Think about it, do you want your first conversation with your photographer to take place on the day of your shoot? The second reason is because it's so much easier to compare schedules while we're both on the phone rather than sending several messages back and forth. So, don't be Shy! Be a Vixen and pick up the phone!

Q. How much does it cost?

A. There are many factors that can go into determining the cost of your experience with Shy Vixen Boudoir Photography, such as whether your session takes place in the studio or on location, and which collection of finished images suits your needs. However, the retainer to reserve your date and time is $300. This down payment is then deducted from the purchase of your Image Collection. Collections start at $900, but most clients spend an average of $3500. Take advantage of our payment plans at no extra cost to you! Want more details? You can find them here.

Q. What if I'm not sure I'm comfortable spending money on myself?

A. I understand but, having had my own boudoir session, I can tell you that you will truly cherish these images forever. I also offer payment plans that make a boudoir photoshoot manageable for any budget. This is an experience you will treasure throughout your lifetime. If you're still not sure, check out the testimonials of those who have had this unforgettable experience!

Q. What if I don't have the right figure for boudoir?

A. Everyone has the right figure for boudoir photography! A boudoir session is empowering because it highlights your favorite features, whether it's obvious, such as a dazzling smile or great cleavage, or under wraps, such as your hips or the curve at the small of your back. The goal is not to expose, but to tantalize through suggestive clothing, creative props, and artistic lighting.

Q. I don't know how to pose. Can you help me?

A. Posing instructions are all part of the session. First, I will demonstrate the pose  and then I will guide you through the movement until everything about you is perfectly arranged down to the tips of your fingers. You will love the results!

Q. What if I don't know what to wear?

A. Don't worry! I am just a phone call away and will help you determine what outfits to bring, plus I often have things on hand that we will use, such as blankets, sheer drapes, oversized sweaters, and more. I am a huge fan of costumes and having fun with these sessions, so think outside the box. It doesn't always have to be lingerie to be sexy.

Q. What if I'm really nervous about having boudoir pictures taken?

A. A lot of people are nervous before their first boudoir shoot. When you first arrive, we will spend time talking about background options, outfit changes, and more. This often helps calm nerves because clients now know what to expect. Once we start the shoot, you'll find that you soon relax because this session is all about you and your comfort level. Doing a boudoir session is a lot of fun and it isn't long before clients find their groove.

Q. Do I have to be naked?

A. Absolutely not! The idea of the shoot is to feel beautiful, sexy, and confident! In fact, I prefer my boudoir photography to be more suggestive than revealing. I only do nudity if my clients request it. Because of this, most of my photography is done as "implied nudes" where you are naked, but nothing is really revealed because it is covered by careful positioning of your body, hands, hair, or bed sheets.

Q. Can I bring someone with me to the shoot?

A. You are welcome to bring a friend. However, I must be informed prior to the session and you are limited to one guest. Keep in mind, most people find it more nerve-wracking to be watched during their session. Boyfriends, husbands, or other male companions are not permitted at the shoot unless they are part of it.
